What Cops Know
The “Missing” Missing

Libba Phillips has been searching for her sister, Ashley, for years. She and her mom find her every once in a while, or they hear she’s been spotted somewhere, but because Ashley has a substance abuse problem, no one seems to care — but them.

Like Ashley, hundreds of thousands of others fit into the “missing” missing category of missing persons. They are homeless and the children born to the homeless; they are substance abusers; they are runaways; they are mentally ill; they are foster kids. They are human beings who are ignored by the media, trivialized by officials and often dismissed as marginal and not worthy of the effort to find them.

Libba Phillips strongly disagrees. She wants everyone to know her sister, Ashley, is loved, cherished and missed.

And that Ashley is above all a human being who deserves to be found.
